Born into my life on 10/24/10 weighing 1 lb, 1.8 oz, this is my new baby:
I didn't even know how to react towards it at first. The whole drive home I just stared at it sitting in my passenger seat. Once the battery charged, Margaret and I immediately decided to have a photo shoot at Mt. Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park. We seriously took 183 photos. Here are my favorites of the park:
Just a few reasons why I love living on the coast. And speaking of the coast, we thought this would be a great opportunity for us to show off the Coast polos that TJ gave us! Glamour shots!
We had the best time being cheesy and not caring what anyone thought about all our posing! After our glamour shots, we got for real glamorous and headed to another Coast - the restaurant. Sunday nights are the best because they have 1/2 priced bottled wine, $3 tacos, and live music! Lucky for us, champagne was also included! Cheers!
To soak up the bubbly, I ordered two tacos. Excuse the shadows. I'm still learning how to work the
First was their special taco - pulled pork marinated in sriracha with blue cheese coleslaw. So fluffin' delicious.
The other was a mahi mahi taco with guacamole, citrus slaw, and tropical salsa - very fresh and full of flavor.
After sevvveral bottles of champagne later, the boys wanted in on the glamour shots.

TJ and Matt:
Then the camera went back to us. Ha.Coast is very very yummy...and typing this sober, you should actually believe me. :) Hope everyone had a glamorous weekend!
So jealous of that camera! Those pictures are so clear! =)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your new baby! DSLRs are tons of fun!
ReplyDeleteNice camera!! Welcome to the Nikon club...I'm only a wee bit obsessed with mine ;)
ReplyDeleteAwesome, lady! I'm excited for you and your new camera! The photos look great, especially the ones with your pretty "mug" in them! The second one of you in the polo (near a fountain?) looks like it could be a senior class photo. Seriously, you look young, chica...and that's a good thing!
ReplyDeleteLove the camera and I love Coast!
ReplyDeleteawesome pictures! looks like you bought a great camera!
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking about getting a DSLR, too!! But they're kind of intimidating. And the whole shelling-out-hundreds-of-bucks thing is hard to handle, too. Awesome you found a great one on sale, though!!
ReplyDeleteYEE HAW - welcome to the (rare and exclusive) Nikon users!! :)
ReplyDeleteThere are SO many reasons I love Nikon - I won't go into them here, but you made the better choice! :D
So excited for you - isn't it SO fun to play with??
Nice to meet you, my name is jealous! Good for you for getting an awesome camera--cant wait to see more pics! I love the photo shoot idea, look at you all fierce! The pic of the two of you in the park is adorable :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome, I have been wanting a dslr forever! I do things like that too, you think about it long enough, some times you just need to pull the trigger. Good for you!
ReplyDeleteOoooooooo LOVE your new camera.
ReplyDeleteSO FUNNY because I was actually looking at the Sunday paper today, didn't get a chance to look at it yesterda...and I saw this camera in the ad too! It looks AWESOME & I love Nikons!!
Takes lovely pics too ;)
Sooooooooooo jealous of your new camera! The pictures are gorgeous. I'm headed to that park tomorrow. Love it there <3
ReplyDeleteokay - ONLY because you ASKED :) :D
ReplyDeleteNumber One, ergonomics. I've used both and my Nikons (from the small D80 to the bigger body of the D3) feel good to hold. The scroll wheels are awesome. More on dials in a minute...
Major color differences - with a Canon shot at the same time, same lighting, Nikon looked better.
Nikons adjustments are easy to use - ISO and white balance, among others, are easily accessible. On a larger point - the programming as a whole are AWESOME with Nikon.
Focus and autofocus - my Nikon will grr grr grr and not let me take a photo - Canon says YEP ! it's focused when It Is Not. I'd much rather play with it and get the good photo... even if it is frustrating at times!
The flash system.
Nikon's dials for aperture + shutter - ALWAYS THE SAME, whatever mode you are shooting. This is big to me... you get used to the dials and want them to do the same thing, all the time. Canon changes per mode.
Nikon has an AWESOME 18-200 lens. AWESOME. If I am NOT shooting for my food blog, I Use This All The Time. I think Canon has something like it now, but when we were first buying cameras several years ago they did not. Food blog photos - I almost exclusively use my 35mm. Sometimes 18-55.
REALLY, it does not matter, they are both good cameras. I just love seeing people with Nikons in the blog world... with my photographer friends most use Nikon, but bloggers tend to Canon, so I love to see a Nikon! <3
Have FUN with it!!
