Friday night Amanda and I did some baking for the Clemson v. Carolina game. Using a simple sugar cookie recipe and some adorable cutters, we made football-themed cookies. We made footballs, helmets, “cheer thingies” (loudspeakers) and SC state shapes.I made a huge batch of frosting and then dyed them the appropriate team colors: garnet and black for USC and purple and orange for Clemson. While the cookies baked and cooled, we drank some red wine and listened to Christmas music on Pandora. Have you started listening to Holiday music? I know we’re not the only ones out there. Baking and decorating took 3 hours! Although some of the cookies look like they were made by drunk people, we had lots of fun getting cracked out on the sugary frosting and making a huge mess. The next morning we decided that exercising was essential. We walked the entire bridge + some, totaling a little over 5 miles.
We were really proud of our cookies and they were a huge hit at the party.
The Clemson cookies disappeared before the Carolina cookies. This either means they were delicious or people were trying to get rid of them. Clemson started playing like doo doo and my attention turned from the game to some decoys I found in Cord’s living room. Do you like how I’m not only making out with a duck but I have antlers in this picture? Sunday morning was spent lazily watching tv until Tyler came back from Clemson demanding that we go for a run. He’s a feisty one! We ran up and down the Battery – the same route we’ll be running in our Reindeer Run 5k this Saturday.
After our run Tyler claimed that because his “life revolves around meal times” that we needed to discuss dinner options. Is he my twin or what? We settled on takeout from Tasty Thai. Unfortunately it was not so tasty. I was determined to try something other than my typical Pad Thai which was what Tyler ordered. My choice: Bleh. Boring. No flavor. Thanks for the massive amount of noodles with 5 vegetables, Tasty Thai. You are so generous.
Here’s to clean eating all week long with lots of exercise. Thanksgiving detox is a must!!
Cookie decorating is so much fun! The more frosting the better. Those tiger paws on the Clemson cookies are too cute :-)
ReplyDeleteI ordered Pad Woon Sen once and had the same reaction: bland bland bland. Lesson learned: nothing beats Pad Thai!
The cookies look cute! I'm still always amazed how huge the rivalry is between USC and Clemson. We went to a party at our neighbors and I thought a few people were going to get into it. Sorry the dinner last night was blehhh. Have a good week! Are you going to brunch next weekend

Those cookies are so adorable, and definitely don't look like they were made my drunk people! If I made cookies drunk, I would probably end up icing myself instead of the cookies. :P

ReplyDeleteThanksgiving detox is right! I call it my salad detox... lol
ReplyDeleteyour cookies are such a fun idea. and omg what is that duck! sorry the thai was so dissapointing. i guess thats what you get for branching out. ug
ReplyDeletei love the cookies! how do you make the colors of your icing turn out so rich and bright? we need to discuss this soon, before i have my xmas cookie extravaganza.
ReplyDeleteToo bad the Tigers are so lousy, they don't deserve cookies being made for them.

How awesome is decorating cookies? Seriously so fun, especially when you're the baker. ;) And I think wine is essential for the project. And the best part is you got your exercise in afterward.
ReplyDelete:)
Such cute cookies! I can't wait to start christmas cookie baking!
ReplyDeleteIt snowed a little last week, and my mom and I decided to take my dog for a very snowy (and cold!) walk. It sure felt refreshing and made me thankful for a warm house!
Gosh, I could not agree more...life does revolve around meal times! The cookies are too cute and I love that you support opposing teams!
ReplyDeleteAdorable cookies!! Love them! And the Bengals are stinking this year too... so maybe I need to make some cute black and oranges sugar cookies to cheer everyone up at the next tailgate! ...Pad Thai is my fave too!! And what a great idea to listen to Christmas music on Pandora!
ReplyDeleteCute cookies!! Too bad Clemson lost..but don't worry, Auburn will totally whoop SC in the Championship ;) haha
ReplyDeleteI started listening to Christmas music when I found an online station on my phone. I probably wont listen to it 365 days a year ever though now it's possible..but a few months ahead of time's acceptable. :P
Those cookies are adorable. Cookies make everything better :) I feel ya on the Thanksgiving detox...
ReplyDeleteYay for Pandora Xmas tunes. I put mine on the Rhianna Xmas station yesterday (umm who knew she sang Xmas songs?) and then it started playing some Lionel Richie Xmas songs, love.

ReplyDeleteCute cookies, though!
P.S. Love the new layout!
I totally thought when you said USC that you meant USC here in L.A....ooppps, then I saw the colors of the cookies and realized, hey...that's not USC's colors.
ReplyDeleteCool looking cookies though, I'm not sure if I'll have the patience to decorate a lot of cookies but then it looks fun if you're decorating with friends.
