Reindeer Run 2010 and Replenishing at Mozzo

On Saturday, I participated in my third 5k this year: The Reindeer Run. The race began at Southend Brewery, looped around the Battery, and finished back at the restaurant. Although the weather was chilly, the route that took us along the water was very pretty. In comparison to the Leprechaun 5k and the Pajama 5k, this run was a lot bigger and more enjoyable. My finish time for this race was 25:52 - a little bit slower than the pajama run, but still good! Wearing holiday colors is encouraged and Amanda and I found this to be the perfect opportunity to break out the tractor hats. Redneck Christmas?IMG_4954Tyler and Rob also ran the ran and wore the reindeer antlers that came in our race packet. IMG_4953Mary and her friend Ali walked the race with their dogs....in Uggs. Talk about comfy exercising! Mary said her dog Tibi only stopped once to use the bathroom. Good Tibi!IMG_4956After the race, Tyler and Rob picked me up to grab lunch at Mozzo. As soon as we walked in, I noticed this sign:availApparently Mozzo appreciates a good abbrev!
I chose a sandwich I had never had before: the Bella, a vegetarian option. The Bella has grilled vegetables (squash, tomatoes, peppers, zucchini and onions) with asiago cheese and balsamic vinegar on a ciabatta roll. DSC_1470 (1280x916)Per my recommendation, Tyler went with the Southern Smoke: slow smoked seasoned pork shoulder, bbq sauce, cheddar cheese & grilled onions.DSC_1465 (1280x916)And when Rob told me that he liked roast beef and onions, I immediately suggested he try The Driller: hot roast beef, muenster cheese, frizzled onions & dijonnaise. This one is great if you're super hungry. Or hung over. Or just smart.
DSC_1468 (1280x853)Do you like how both boys did what I told them? So obedient.

As we were eating, I couldn’t help but notice this man waiting in line…WITH HIS HANDS IN HIS PANTS!!!! Ugh. Mozzo is a dining establishment – has he no dignity?handsinpantsHave you participated in any races this year? Which was your favorite and why? And what did you feast on afterward?

  1. The City of Oaks 1/2 Marathon was my favorite race of the year! Right after I finished I couldn't stomach the thought of any food, but about an hour afterwards I demolished an egg and cheese sandwich on croissant. Running makes me ravenous!

  8. You always do such fun runs!

And I'm cracking up over the guy with his hands in his pants. Sometimes people need to realize that, when in public, someone is almost always watching you... geez!

  9. I hope that "man" (using that term loosely of course) washed his hands before his meal. Gross.

I want to workout in reindeer ears and Uggs....in July....just to be weird. Southern Smoke sounds AMAZING! That would be a cool name of a smoke shop.

  10. I love your festive get up for the 5k! I ran the race for the cure 5k back in May and feasted on a whole wheat bagel and lots of chocolate milk after. I wanted to do a 10k in October but have been having some knee and ankle soreness. I'd love to take my dog to a 5k sometime though!

  19. Great job on your race! Do you know that I've *never* participated in a race before? (I know, stone me, right?!) I'm so not a runner, but really, really, REALLY admire runners and have secretly wanted to be part of that "crowd". This morning I ran my entire cardio session (gooo me!) and even looked up upcoming races in our area because I am putting that on my 2011 Bucket List to participate in at least one race. I'll start out with a 5k for sure and there is one in January, but I'm a bit skerred because it's FREEZING in January. However, I do like a good challenge, so we'll see! :)

  20. Run run Rudolph:)

OK the fact that you had time to take a pic and his hand was still in his pants is icky.

BUT that does look tasty, or as Mozzo would say "tast"

    :)
