CASUAL: The Series

A story about a Guy and a Girl. A Guy meets a Girl…and something happens.

I stumbled upon this series a couple months ago. I watched the movie trailer and was immediately obsessed. I stayed up until 3 a.m. one night because I couldn’t stop watching the episodes in Seasons 1 and 2. I forced myself to save Season 3 for the next day…but it was hard. Really hard.

I can’t really explain why I like this series so much. Maybe it’s because the storyline isn’t one of those “oh that only happens in the movies” type of thing. There are so many parts that I could relate to my past relationships.

Maybe it’s because it has the best music.

And maybe I have a little crush on Brian Smith. Just maybe.

Watch the rest here: Casual: The Series.

Have I convinced you to watch the whole series?

The Friday Five 7.27.12

1. What I’m Reading: Ever wonder which spices and herbs go with your favorite foods? What about which cheese pairs best with your favorite fruit? The Flavor Bible tells all. This book lists thousands of ingredients and is an excellent resource for anyone interested in cooking.

2. What I’m Eating: New favorite hummus! If you like olives, you’ll love this.

3. What I’m Listening to:  Remember when everyone was obsessed with Santigold’s song “L.E.S. Artistes”? Her newest album, Master of My Make-Believe, features this awesome song:

She’s as wacky as Nicki Minaj but can sing really well!

4. Recipes I’m Bookmarking: Cape Cod Muffins. (Blueberry Cranberry Muffins)Danielle, we need these!20120706-wake-and-bake-cape-cod-muffins.JPG

What I’m Loving Wednesday

1. I really love this message my auntie Kelly sent me yesterday along with a video. “Of course, I thought of you when I saw the title but then when i heard the lyrics I knew I must send this to you!”  Those of you who know me well know that I love penguins.

Lyrics

2. I also really love mermaids. Unusual, I know. On Sunday I caught a documentary Nat Geo about mermaids. Oh, how I wish they were real. Coincidentally, my friend Scott posted a link on my wall about a woman in Canada who designs mermaid swimsuits. Too bad they cost almost $250! See the link here.mermaids

Ariel was always my favorite Disney princess. Who was yours?

3. I want this game! I saw it at Target last week and I should have bought it.

4. Speaking of trivia, who remembers this from your childhood? While Justin was cleaning his boat, I found this gem in his parents’ garage. Score.IMAG2893

5. Don’t you want to make this and eat it right now? Who cares if you’re reading this at 9 a.m. You know you want it.20110803-quinoa-salad-corn-tomatoes-avocado-lime.jpg

6. Last month, I won a giveaway on Nichole’s blog for Adonia Greek frozen yogurt. It’s pure bliss. This flavor is unbelievably creamy! Bonus: It’s fat free and there are 9 grams of protein per serving!image

Ciao!

The Friday Five 6.7.12

1. What I’m Reading: I love this cookbook I picked up at the library. There so many good, healthy recipes that I may have to buy this. image

2. What I’m Listening to: I cannot stop playing this. I probably listen to it at least 15 times a day.

BUT! The Skrillex remix is better. Some of you may want to plug your ears before pressing play.

3. What I’m Eating: I just found these new Fiber One bars at Publix: Strawberry PB&J and Chocolate. 110 calories and 5g of fiber. They taste really good too!

They also came out with a 90 calorie Chocolate Chip Cookie.image

The Friday Five 5.24.12

1. What I’m Reading: I finished half of our Book Club book the night we chose it. Whoops. At that rate I’ll have finished and forgotten it by the time we meet again, so I decided to start something else. One of my very sweet readers sent me an advance copy of a book from one of my favorite authors, Alyson Richman, who wrote The Lost Wife. image

Thank you, Avery! That was so thoughtful of you.

2. What I’m Listening to: Doesn’t everyone love this song?

3. What I’m Eating: NOT CANDY. At work yesterday, Hannah came up with the marvelous idea that she, Rachel, and I should give up sweets for a week. Um, what?

I realize it’s only a week, but I eat at least one small treat a day – usually a Dove promise, Hershey’s miniature, or um, a Chick-fil-A IceDream. The rule is no candy, desserts, ice cream, or anything of that nature.  Can we survive the 7 days? That sounds semi pathetic, but I’m actually petrified. ;)

4. Recipe I’m Bookmarking: Peanut Buttery Hummus. You read that right. 05222012_PBHummus_Primary2.jpg

I bet you just drooled on your computer/phone/tablet.

5. Words I’m Living By:image

I can’t wait to work on “DANCE MORE” this weekend. Shouldn’t be too hard.

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND!

The Friday Five–5/17/12

1. What I’m Eating: Okay. So we all know that I love Chick-fil-A. But here’s something I’ve never shared. My absolute favorite part of the IceDream is the last bite of the cone. Here’s the thing: you HAVE to make sure that enough ice cream has melted into the bottom of the cone before you eat it. Who knows what I’m talking about? IMAG2409

This last bite is more exciting than the cone itself. I cannot even express how much joy I get out of it.

2. What I’ m Laughing at: My cousin! At lunch the other day, his quesadilla arrived with a garnish on the plate. He scowled at it and asked me if I wanted his “salad.” IMAG2421

3. What I’m Sipping: This wine!

I picked up a bottle at Trader Joe’s because it was a staff favorite. While in line, the cashier mentioned that it was his favorite, so I quickly grabbed another bottle. We finished off both bottles at book club tonight. It is GOOD!

4. What I’m Bookmarking: This shrimp & zucchini curry recipe looks absolutely delicious.

5. What I’m Listening to: After listening to the entire cd multiple times, I’ve decided that my favorite song on Born to Die is Diet Mt. Dew.

Are you a Lana del Rey fan? Yes, she’s awkward. But she’s pretty and she has a beautiful voice! Which song is your favorite?

Have a great weekend!

Highlights From The Weekend

1. I went a little nuts on the C. Wonder site. They were having a major sale – an extra 50% off already reduced prices. I wanted one of everything and originally had 19 items in my cart. Yes, 19. I somehow narrowed it down to 6. I felt so rational.image

Clockwise from top left: XO decorative plate, Resin hammered bangle, cutlery glass plate, Round lacquer box, Calf hair skinny belt, Cord winder

2. I also got to hang out with my favorite blend, Katie! I went to a wedding as her brother’s date. I absolutely love her family! Such great people. Now that Katie has graduated from Clemson, I’m hoping she’ll move down to CHS so I can adopt her as my little sister. ;)DSC00307

Katie’s fancy instagram of us:

Do you use instagram? Follow me: @christinaorso

3. I crammed lots of veggies into my tummy from Week 4 of my CSA with Gruber Farm.DSC_0226 (1024x683)

In this week’s box:

  • kale
  • lettuce
  • strawberries
  • red potatoes
  • zucchini
  • squash
  • sweet onions
  • cabbage (hidden)

I used the cabbage to make a yummy recipe from Skinny Taste. Check out her Stuffed Cabbage Casserole. It’s great!

4. Lastly, I’m a little obsessed with this song. Enjoy!

Have a great week!

The Friday Five

1. What I’ m Reading: Though I’m in the middle of Fifty Shades Freed, I really needed a break. I loved the second book of the trilogy, but now it’s just so repetitive of…well, you know what. I switched it up to something more serious.

Those Who Save Us book description:  For fifty years, Anna Schlemmer has refused to talk about her life in Germany during World War II. Her daughter, Trudy, was only three when she and her mother were liberated by an American soldier and went to live with him in Minnesota. Trudy's sole evidence of the past is an old photograph: a family portrait showing Anna, Trudy, and a Nazi officer, the Obersturmfuhrer of Buchenwald.
Driven by the guilt of her heritage, Trudy, now a professor of German history, begins investigating the past and finally unearths the dramatic and heartbreaking truth of her mother's life.
Combining a passionate, doomed love story, a vivid evocation of life during the war, and a poignant mother/daughter drama, Those Who Save Us is a profound exploration of what we endure to survive and the legacy of shame.

2. What I’ m Listening to: This song is fun!

3. What I’ m Wearing: My Grammy from Massachusetts arrived Wednesday. I’m so excited to spend time with her over the next 6 weeks. She even brought me an early, early birthday present: a Cape Cod Screwball bracelet.

I’ve been wanting one for a while to match the necklace that I got for my 21st birthday. image

4. What I’ m Eating: I lose all self control when a bag of these are in front of me:

I like to eat 1/2 of a Mr. Goodbar and 1/2 of a Krackel at the same time. Weird, I know

5. What I’ m Doing This Weekend: Bring on wedding season!

  • Friday rehearsal dinner for a wedding I’m going to with my friend Andrew and his sister, Katie, who is my blend!!
  • Saturday wedding  and reception at the Charleston Yacht Club
  • Beach time for Mother’s Day with Grammy and Auntie Kelly
  • Hopefully a pedicure somewhere in there!

The Friday Five

1. Where I’m Running: I ran on Daniel Island again last night. It’s becoming my favorite place to run. Every part of the island is beautiful. Check out the scenery:IMAG2329IMAG2331

A tree house!IMAG2328

2. What I’m Eating: During the Volunteer Fair at Blackbaud, King of Pops was selling his delicious popsicles. While a lot of the flavors are fruit-based, I almost always opt for the dessert pop. Today’s pick was Banana bread. The popsicle had a slice of homemade banana bread running through it. It was perfect. I ate all around the edges until I was left with only banana bread.IMAG2325

3. What I’m Bookmarking: I found this slideshow of lego sculptures of fast food items. Of course my favorite was the Chick-fil-A sandwich!

Now I want some legos.

4. What I’m Listening to: I will never tire of Sia! And David Guetta makes every song a little bit more fun.

5. Memes (gifs? who cares?) I’m Loving:

WHEN I’M DRIVING AND MY FAVORITE SONG COMES ON THE RADIO:
