What I’m Loving Wednesday

1. I introduced Danielle to Mi Xao on Monday. We split the London Broil pho…photo (5)

…and the Lemongrass Chicken Stir Fry. We enjoyed both, but the London Broil was the clear winner. I squirted about half a cup of Sriracha in it (no joke) and I left with clear sinuses and a warm tummy.photo (4)

2. Are you one of those people who very regularly gets their hair cut? I am. After 6-8 weeks I start to freak out a little because my hair is so thick and heavy. As we’re nearing winter, I want to embrace my naturally dark golden blonde hair. Don’t worry, the bob isn’t going anywhere, just getting a little longer.

3. I love these wine bags from World Market.

4. I want to make this button craft I saw on Pinterest.buttons, buttons, buttons...

5. The last time I went to Starbucks, a Christmas miracle happened. They correctly spelled my name.photo 5

Christina is not hard to spell, but trust me, people mess it up. Or they just write Christie or Kristina. I’ll just tell them Xtina from now on. Imagine the spellings they’ll come up with for that…

6. Town Centre does a wonderful job of decorating for the holidays, and damn they started early this year. I love this blanket of lights!photo 2

7. So many of you have signed up for the Ornament Swap I’m hosting!! There’s still time to sign up! If you’re interested, please send me an email by tonight. Thanks!

Who’s ready for Thanksgiving?! What are you guys making?

The Friday Five 11.2.12

1. What I’m Reading: Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher. So this is rather depressing, but I was hooked within the first few pages. Hannah, a girl who committed suicide, left thirteen cassette tapes she recorded explaining why she ended her life.  With each tape, you learn how much she was affected by those around her, and what led her to such a drastic decision.

2. What I’m Drinking: My coworker Dane often stops at Starbucks before work. That gem of a gentleman always asks if he can treat us, but I’ve usually had coffee by then. Inspired by an instagram my friend Jess posted, I asked for one of the Cool Lime Refreshers. photo

Refreshing it was! And energizing – does green tea usually do that? I loved it. I also got a kick out of the CLR; those are actually my legal initials. Don’t you wish you knew that story…

3. Recipes I’m Bookmarking: Fig and Walnut Crackers. I wonder if they’re as good as the Trader Joe’s Rosemary and Raisin Crisps.2012-11-1-crackers.jpg

4. What I’m Listening to: Black Eye by Love Inks. Love, love, love this song.

5. GIFs I’m Loving:

WHEN SOMEONE ASKS ME HOW I ALWAYS GET FREE DRINKS

WHEN SOMEONE TELLS ME I SHOULD TRY SPEED DATING

WHEN I’M TEXTING A GUY AND HE TAKES FOREVER TO RESPOND

. . .

Anyone going to Daniel Island Park Day on Saturday? If so, stop by the wine tent and look for me with my Wine Awesomeness boys! We’ll give you some good juice.waboys

Best Moments of the Weekend

*My healthy lunch from Ali Baba Deli: Pita bread, tabouli, fattoush salad, grilled vegetables, and pomegranate muhammara. Swing over to Daniel Island just for this muhammara. It’s one of the best things I’ve eaten.image

I’m loving all the veggies I’ve been eating since I started being repulsed by stopped eating meat/poultry/eggs. It has been 5 full days and it’s so easy! I know I said I wouldn’t give myself a title, but if I did, I’d be a lacto-pesco-vegetarian, right? I’m eating some dairy and fish, but no meat, poultry, or eggs. Enlighten me.

*The lovely Starbuck’s cups.image

*My facial from Facelogic. imageThis was incredibly relaxing and my face now feels as soft as baby’s skin! I highly recommend Dina if you’re thinking about going to Facelogic.. I also purchased this Dermalogica starter kit that they used on me.

*A visit to TCBY for frozen yogurt! I had a strange, yet delicious combo.image +image

*The Vow. I thought the movie was really good, but not as passionate as, oh, say The Notebook? Does anything compare to that movie?  I shed no tears, but came close a couple times. Deep breaths and shoving gummy worms in my mouth fixed that.

*Winter decided to grace Charleston with its presence Saturday night. The cure for the blistering cold? Winter gear + beer.image

Oh, and hot chocolate for good measure. I am unsure as to why I wore a hat, mittens, and a scarf, but no socks or real shoes. Clearly I was in a rush for the necessities.image

*Brunch with Rachel at Hall’s Chophouse. I love that before bartender Darryl handed me the menu, he asked me, “Beets, right?” Well, of course. I, for the 29862968th time, got the Blackened Salmon Salad with a side of beets.

*After brunch, Rachel and I went to HIP HOP CLASS. No joke. I didn’t fall! It was sooo much fun. Definitely worth laughing the whole time! Immediately after that, we did Body Pump. 2 hours of exercise on a Sunday? Heck yeah!

And just for giggles, let me tell you about the worst part of my weekend. On Saturday as I was leaning down to adjust my bike at the gym, I knocked my head into one of the handlebars. I smacked it so hard I gasped aloud and now have a bruise. Seriously, will I ever grow out of this clumsiness?!

What were the best moments of your weekend?

GIVEAWAY coming tomorrow! Hint: It’s going to be SWEET!

What I’m Loving Wednesday

1. Twitter! Cannot stop tweeting. (@christinaorso) I thought it was the stupidest thing for so long, but now I’m borderline crazed for it. Weird. Last night I may have gotten one of the best pics tweeted to (at?) me: image

My twitter (and hopefully soon real life) friend Holly sent me these name tags that I am 100% sure I need in my life. She’s also sending me a recipe for “husband-getter gingerbread cookies.” YUM. Stay tuned for those…

2. On Monday, Kaye and I went downtown  for a run. After I parked and was about to step out of the car, some man drove right into my door. Now this wouldn’t have been a big deal, had I not been wearing the most obnoxious/embarrassing shirt I own. I had to stand on the street for nearly an hour like this while the cops wrote the report.  I realize I look like a complete jack ass. Just laugh with me…IMAG1021

3. I’m now a fan of Starbucks – mostly because my friend Brandy works here. Charleston friends: if you stop by the location across from Town Center, tell Brandy I love her. She is the greatest. While working here, I enjoyed this delicious Spinach, Feta & Cage-Free Egg White Breakfast Wrap:IMAG1044

I was really impressed with it. And yes, my computer has an “xtina” label on it. Just in case. Here’s what it really looks like: image

4. The playlist I used for the Pajama 5K on Saturday. image

5. Tomorrow is Thanksgiving! Have a great one!
