One, Two, Three, RUN!

How about a little weekend update? My pantry is stocked!! On Friday, I picked up a few of my favorite things from Whole Foods...

  • Annie's pastas -- grew up eating these, but haven't had them since I was a young Xtina. Wait, that doesn't sound right...since I was a little Chrissy.
  • Fage -- new obsession...WF had the strawberry flavor! So exciting.
  • Bananas - must.have.one.every.day.
  • Cinnamon Raisin Swirl peanut butter -- no need for an explanation. Just drool with me.
  • Luna Bars -- 3 new flavors that I'll soon be reviewing.
  • GELATO! They let me get two 1/2 pints because I wanted two different flavors: Carrot Cake and Pistachio.
I rushed home to make the shells & white cheddar because that was my favorite growing up. When I got home I had a big package waiting for me!! A couple weeks ago, I won a Zevia giveaway on Ashley's blog. My Zevia 6-pack prize had arrived. I ripped open the package to find these pretty cans of fizz:
I made my pasta shells, some veggies, and cracked open my first Zevia.
The shells weren't as amazing as I remembered, so I added a lot of freshly cracked pepper. The Zevia flavor I tried was lemon lime twist. It was really good! It tasted very similar to Sprite, but better. Zevia sodas are made with Stevia and have zero calories. They contain no sugar or artificial sweeteners and have no effect on blood sugar levels. Yay for no tooth decay and sudden blood sugar crashes!

Saturday morning I went to the gym for a 3-mile run and then played on the machines for a little while. When I got home I tried a new Luna Bar flavor: Iced Oatmeal Raisin.
OH MY HEAVENS.

This is definitely my new favorite bar. As soon as I opened it I could smell the cinnamon.
There is a hint of raisin (really I didn't get that much) binded by a bunch of oats with a thick layer of creamy icing.
This is the seventh flavor I've tried and it's definitely at the top of my list. My second favorite flavor (so far) is Blueberry Bliss, followed by Chocolate Peppermint Stick.

After I showered, my roommate and I got all pretty and got ready for St. Patrick's Day on Sullivan's Island.
she loves Luna Bars too! :)
We drank and we drank and we drank. We had a great time and safely took a taxi back to our apartment.  "Knockout" by Lil Wayne featuring Nicki Minaj came on during our ride home which struck up a conversation/debate on who has more talent: Nicki or Trina. Our driver was such a Trina fan. Of course he is. I direct quoted Heera and said "But Nicki is the Trina of 2010!" No such luck, I didn't convince him. At least we didn't need to argue about Lil Wayne.

I've been debating on doing the 2010 Cooper River Bridge Run for the past few weeks. I kept thinking "my gooooooosh do I need to pay MORE for exercise?" Heck no. Then I thought "Why wouldn't I do this?" Screw 40 bucks, it happens once a year and there's a reason why 2295872984295829572957 other people do it....so I signed up. As soon as I got my receipt in my inbox I realized, holy mother, this thing is in 11 days! Yipes! I've never even set foot on the bridge -- only driven over it!

I started looking up other races and found a St. Patrick's Day 5k. What the heck, I signed up for that too. I figured it would be a good way to practice other than my usual treadmill pounding. The "Catch the Leprechaun" 5k on Wednesday evening is sponsored by Pattison's Academy in Mt. Pleasant. Pattison's Academy is a school for physicaly and mentally disabled children. The race is in Memorial Waterfront Park so it should be a really pretty run. They'll be playing Irish music at the post-race party, too! It sounded like a lot of fun, and since it's for kids...I couldn't resist.

Speaking of kids -- check out my awesome cousin. He's into fitness too!!
Not sure what's all over his leg...I think he was playing in the dog's water bowl again. :)

  2. Cinnamon Raison swirl is DEFINITELY my favorite PB & Co flavor. You need to try this sandwich with it...

Mix cream cheese with vanilla and powdered sugar, and then spread it on two slices of bread with the cinnamon raison PB and green apple slices and enjoy. Its SOOOOOOOOOO good.

That's exciting about your upcoming races. Definitely better than pounding it out on the treadmill.

  4. Girlie! I didn't get your comment before our visit to Charleston's cafe, hence why I didn't call you- so sorry! We'll probably end up going again this weekend :) Sounds like you've been up to some fun stuff! I love the lemon lunas- they remind me of the old school (or do they still have them?)lemon girl scout cookie sandwiches. Deliciousness- totally sweet though. I debated signing up for the bridge run too, but haven't done so- hope you have fun!
