The Friday Five 8.10.12

1. What I’m Reading: My grandmother gave my brother a copy of To Kill a Mockingbird, but I accidentally brought it home in my suitcase. I figured I might as well read it before he starts it in school. It was one of my favorite books from high school.

2. What I’m Eating:  Greek yogurt has always been a staple in my diet, but I’ve been retrying some Chobani flavors I haven’t had in a while. Specifically, I’ve been really enjoying the 2% Strawberry Banana.  The 2% Chobani flavors are a bit thicker and therefore creamier. This flavor is sweet!

3. What I’m Wearing:  For the longest time I thought manicures and pedicures were a waste of money. I can do my own nails and I hate people touching my feet. Then Amanda told me about “polish changes.” For about 7 bucks, I get my nails trimmed and filed, then painted with a base, 2 coats of color, and top coat. Win. Today I got my nails painted with “Red-y Set Ex” by Essie.

4. Recipes I’m Bookmarking: Mint and Green Pea Risotto with Roasted Tomatoes.

What I’m Loving Wednesday

1. Pure Barre –  I’ve done 3 classes in a row and I’m going again tonight. It hurts to sit, walk up the stairs, and lift my arms. So awesome! Lots of ladies signed up for the 20 class challenge.  They’re all champions for joining!

I also love the fact that we’re getting gold stars by our name. Great motivation!

2. Speaking of challenges, remember the Saving Money Challenge two of my coworkers and I had for March? For spending the least amount of money dining out, I won! Woop! My savings went to Pure Barre. Double win.

3. Holidays. This weekend, I’ll be celebrating Easter with my family and going to Seder with intern Sean’s family. I’ve always been curious about Jewish holidays, so Sean’s family invited me to see what it’s like. I’ve already studied this book.

I’m just as excited to don my bunny ears with the family! Best of both worlds.

5. Pastels for Spring. Here in the South, it’s perfectly acceptable to dress like an Easter egg. Some call this color blocking. Others may call this offensive.

The Friday Five

1. What I’m Reading:

The library emailed me telling me this book was (finally!) on hold for me. I started this last night. I am really freaked out by the big arms on the cover though.

Don’t laugh, but I also snagged this from the library. So 4th grade of me. This, along with A Little Princess, was one of my favorite movies from elementary school. 

4. What I’m Eating:

Do yourself a favor and pick this dip up from Trader Joe’s. If you like Indian spices, you need this.

Although I prefer the homemade dish, this is great if you’re in a hurry. Very tasty.

These burgers, on the other hand, are…blech. I was totally freaked out biting into a random green bean in the middle of my burger. How do you guys eat veggie burgers? Eeeeeeeek.

Factual Friday

Yes, yes, yes!! I’m so happy it’s Friday. Ecstatic. Try to say that word 5 times fast.

Did you do it?

1. Look at Charleston’s upcoming weather. Absolutely perfect.

2. Niki and I met Elvis a couple weeks ago. The real deal was bartending at Triangle for a charity event. Smokin’ outfit.

3. Last weekend I found this gem in a used bookstore. I almost peed my pants. But really, what if…

4. I have a doodling problem when I’m on the phone. This is borderline crazy, no? And if you’re about to ask me if I am in love, the answer is no.

5. When Mariah and I were baking pumpkin pancakes on Monday, I accidentally spilled wine in the four mixture. Seriously, how does one do that?

6. I want so many books. I wish I could rent a room in the library and just live there. Have any books you don’t want? You can send them to me. The next book I want to buy:

7. I helped my guy friend with clothes shopping tonight. It was dramatic to say the least. While he tried on clothes for seriousness, I tried on ridiculous pants:

These were at the Gap. Snakeskin and camo jeans? What is going on here! Horrendous! I’m still not sure how I got these on and off my body.

8. I don’t think I have ever had my nails painted the same color for more than 4 consecutive days. They either start chipping or I get bored with the color. I really want Angora Cardi by Essie:
